Main Street Business Capital Salutes Veterans Here & Abroad

Main Street Business Capital, a leader in financing small business loans, is committed to supporting veterans, starting with one of its own employees, Systems Administrator Kristopher Gomez.

At Main Street Business Capital, Gomez handles a variety of IT duties and makes sure the company’s systems work properly every day. But prior to working at Main Street Business Capital, Gomez was proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps for eight years and the National Guard for another six years.

Originally stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Gomez served as a water survival instructor for five years. Upon relocation to Camp Pendleton, he enrolled in school to study communications, which introduced him to the world of Information Technology. The IT skills he learned translated perfectly during his service with the National Guard, as he joined the S6 unit, which is the branch in charge of communications.

While serving in the National Guard, Gomez continued his education at ITT Tech and ultimately earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science. When his contract with the military ended, Gomez heard that Main Street Business Capital was hiring an IT specialist, so he decided to apply. Main Street Business Capital’s management team was impressed with Gomez’s IT education and it was clear that his 14 years of service in the military represented a strong work ethic.

“My approach to IT is based on everything I learned in the military,” says Gomez. “It’s about being professional and strict in getting the work done. You have to stay focused on the tasks at hand while always being ready for different variables that may arise from day to day. Being the primary IT person at Main Street Business Capital enables me to put these skills to good use.”

Main Street Business Capital takes care of its employees, especially the veterans like Gomez. “The company has been very flexible with my VA needs and has also offered to help pay for my education beyond what my veteran benefits covered,” said Gomez. “They’ve always been willing to help in any way they can.”

As Veterans Day approaches, Main Street Business Capital honors and thanks its employees who have served in the military. Whatever you do this Veterans Day, let Kristopher Gomez and the other Main Street Business Capital veteran employees serve as reminders that our country’s veterans should be thanked and supported at every opportunity. That’s what this important holiday is all about.
